It’s important to vary your training runs not only for improved running gains but it may also help reduce injury risk.

Adding in running workouts to your training week is a great way to improve speed, improve strength, improve bone density, and improve tendon capacity.

Each week should include a running workout like those above and a long duration run. The rest of the week should be full of east miles.

Biomechanics running analyses can be very helpful in determining the forces acting in your body while you run and can be very helpful in offloading those forces from injured or sensitive tissues.

That is the biggest way I can keep you running safely while rehabbing an injury.

But let’s not confuse what we see (joint angles, positions, and alignment) with what’s more important, the forces going through.

Being prepared for injury when it happens also makes running easier and less stressful.

ITB pain is not the most common but if you’ve ha

ITB pain is not the most common but if you’ve had it you know how bad it hurts. Keeping the quads and hips STRONG is key to fighting it.

Foam rolling the ITB and the upper hip as well as stretching everything around can help alleviate the pain a bit.

But let’s get this straight, you can not stretch the IT band itself, but you can the tissues around it to help decrease the pain.
